Noticing

Apologies to my friends and neighbours, those I chat to in the street or on a dog walk. I sometimes wander from a conversation to notice nature:

"They had delivered the package next door...no note...on the phone twenty minutes...panicking..."

I am sort of listening but there is a mistle thrush defending it's mistletoe against a male blackbird behind you. I am sort of listening but there is a buzzard and a sparrowhawk circling above our heads. I am sort of listening but I'm trying to remember the name of that violet by your shoe.

This one is a common dog violet. I wasn't rude to anyone to notice this one. I was gardening, just me and Brownstone. Photo, look it up, commit to memory .

This one, sorry for the blurred image, is cuckooflower or lady's smock. Coming through in abundance at the churchyard.

It takes a deep breath to notice. Head out of day-to-day business. Ears open to nature sounds. The scent of a hyacinth.

Right, enough with the blogging, it is time to garden. And notice. Go notice too. Maybe do it after listening to your neighbours issue with the parcel delivery though. Don't want to have you in hot water with Maureen at number 54.
